The Other Side

Presented by Lawn Solutions Australia for The Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show 2019
Created in collaboration between Candeo Design, Semken Landscaping and Jason Hodges.
For many Australians “the grass is always greener on the other side”.
The modern family desires a functional attractive garden. We have set out to create an appealing garden for those with busy lives where looking out onto a beautiful garden is as important as being in a beautiful garden.
The family outdoor entertaining area forms the main hub of this garden. The primary source of entertainment for this family space is the rectangular plunge pool set above ground to minimize the amount of pool fencing. As you sit underneath the bold structured pergola in the main entertainment area, trees and their underplanting screen the fence line and wrap around you to create a private outdoor space.
Stepping down from the decking towards the front of the garden we find the mid-level deck landing for quiet contemplation or viewing the garden. Stepping down further and you find a paved area with a feature fire bowl. The path from the deck landing to the front of the garden displays both a solid paved walkway and stepping stones with garden beds and lawn integrated in between to soften a wide path entrance. The feature lawn area at the front is detailed with mixed planting which adorns life-size, playful Australian bronze Labrador sculptures.
The varying heights and levels, along with quality materials selected, complement this stunningly simple garden to create the perfect back garden style vista where the grass is greener on “The Other Side”.
