ODE
Designed by Candeo Design
Constructed by Semken Landscaping and Inki Landscapes
ODE tells a heartfelt story of mentorship, collaboration and connection - a living homage to the mentors, colleagues and friends who have shaped our journeys. This tribute garden is rich in symbolism and meaning, crafted to honour the legacy of the landscape industry and its profound influence.
At the heart of the garden, a central water feature continuously fills and overflows symbolising the constant exchange of knowledge and ideas within the industry. A vortex at its centre represents the void left by the loss of visionary figures, offering a space for reflection and pause.
The sculptural trees stand as poignant metaphors for the lasting legacy of mentors and colleagues. Each is engraved with family trees, mapping the connections and relationships that have shaped many careers and the industry.
The timber structure with a tiled roof and bluestone paving evokes a sense of permanence, refuge and support. It reflects the secure foundation and nurturing environment the landscape industry offers its community.
A dynamic and diverse planting scheme weaves together evergreen plants, symbolising enduring stability, with perennials, representing fresh growth and innovation, echoing the industry’s evolving spirit.
ODE is more than just a garden. It’s a celebration of mentorship, legacy and the sense of community that defines the landscape industry.

Our utmost appreciation and respect for the below suppliers who's products and services are on display in 'Ode'. Their dedication to the show is what makes all of this possible.
Established Tree Transplanters
ODE Sculptural Trees
The 4 trees within the garden were sighted by our team on a property near Geelong, that is due for development. We approached the landowner 6 months ago to see if we could re-locate the trees and they were very agreeable to the idea.
We are using the trees in the garden as a sculptural element however these trees, in the bush or on any property, serve an important purpose of being habitat trees, which are a vital resource to local wildlife.
For these trees their time at the show is just a pit stop in their journey. At the conclusion of the show we will return the trees to a farm about 4 kms from their original home .We will create a small habitat garden, with the help of the landowner, and we hope the journey of these trees can raise some awareness to the importance that large, old and dying trees provide to the Australian landscape.
An excellent resource from Land for Wildlife explaining the value of habitat trees can be found here.
